(Perhaps I should have persevered with the giraffe!)

He’ll never love you the way he loved me
You’re just a small facsimile
You can try to work your wiley charms
But whilst he’s lying in your arms
I’m in his thoughts
I’m in his dreams
I’m the one whose name he screams
silently at night while you’re asleep
And if you think he’s fallen deep
Don’t fool yourself, you’re much mistaken
I’m the one his heart has taken
And even though I’m with another
and you are now his latest lover
In my heart I know he’s mine
I’m in his head and even time
won’t heal the breaks that I have caused
Good luck to you with all his flaws
And whilst I’m here, never forget
You’ll always be his second best
