Sunrise and Sunset

Posted on November 10, 2015November 10, 2015 by Jane

You are of the moment
The alpha and the omega
Sunrise and sunset
First joy of the morning
Last comfort of eventide
When night falls
You become a shadow
Cast by the moon
Just another dream
Before a new day dawns

Sunset

Posted on September 13, 2015 by Jane

Dark skies overhead;
forbidding,
foreboding,
forewarning.
I feel the winds of change
howling round our life.
I watch the candle flame flicker,
before extinguishing.
Dark thoughts in my head;
forsaken
fornication.
I watch the sun go down;
forever.

Gifted

Posted on August 12, 2015 by Jane

Westward bound, homeward
into vibrant palette of the setting sun.
Raindrop rivulets smear tinted glass
as rainbow arches in the east.
The sky colours my senses;
lifts me higher.

As dark descends, stars shoot
as the cosmos gifts earthkind
with spectacular Perseid fireworks.
Tonight, we are truly blessed.

The Box

Posted on July 7, 2015 by Jane

I watched, motionless, as the sun set on our life.
I let you walk away.
You didn’t look back.
I packed the last of your belongings away in a box.
Sealed the lid on what once was.
You didn’t return.
The box remains; a constant reminder of you.
Square, uninteresting and covered in dust.
